Cabin Core
BTS of our Aspen design presentation
We’re crafting a double feature in Aspen for the same family—one a full gut renovation they’ll live in first, and one rising from the ground up. Because we design homes like 1,000-piece puzzles, we pull multiple threads at once so the whole picture sings instead of feeling piecemeal.
For the renovation, today’s presentation zoomed in on the bedroom suites—colorful spaces that reflect each of the kids, with mid-century ease and a slightly retro, chalet-twist. Think layered patterns, zellige tiles, and a palette that’s both cozy and fun. Each suite gets its own personality, but they speak the same language.
Across the table, the new build moved forward with its outdoor finishes and material story. We reviewed stone and wood that can flirt with snowdrifts and strong sun, and textures that play beautifully against glass and sky—all wrapped in an old-world, storybook silhouette with English-countryside/French notes. Durability matters at altitude—but so does charm—so every choice had to be both rugged and refined.
Designing both homes in tandem lets us keep the narrative cohesive—shared motifs, complementary palettes—while giving each address its own voice. Same family, two chapters.
