Girls who love bold colors and patterns need to stick together, which is just one of the many reasons I adore fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg. She's known for her iconic kit jersey wrap dress, worn by every stylish celebrity since it was first designed in 1972 (and still one of the most coveted dresses in the world.) Best of all, she's not afraid to play with bright patterns, bold colors, gorgeous silks - all of which characterize her sophisticated, contemporary fashion line. And she's just such a #bosslady - never afraid to take a risk and somehow she juggles it all while still looking chic. Even more fascinating than her iconic wrap dress is her inspiring success story of how she grew her brand into what it is today. The daughter of a Belgian Holocaust survivor, Diane von Furstenberg became a princess when she married into German royalty in her early 20's and went on to a successful modeling career. Rather than be known as a girl who glamorously wed a German prince, she set out to make a name for herself as a fashion designer, becoming an entrepreneur who would dramatically change the fashion industry. Not only was she crazy successful - but she looked flawless doing it (just look at that mod-inspired wrap dress!) Even today, she continues to create remarkable pieces and collections every season. And like me, I'm pretty sure she's never met a color she doesn't love. From bright cobalts, sunny yellows and rich reds, Diane Von Furstenberg embraces color with both her line and her wardrobe. Not only does Diane von Furstenberg continues to inspire with her business acumen and fashion forward style sense, but Diane Von Furstenburg's apartment is also gorgeous. As you'd expect, her tastes are eclectic, colorful and full of vintage and modern pieces she's collected after years of traveling and exploring. Here are a few of my favorite snaps from her Manhattan penthouse from Architectural Digest a few years back. One of the most intriguing aspects of her home is how intensely alive each of her rooms feel. From bright art, to bold animal prints and patterns, her home has a little bohemian, quirky charm that seems to fit her personality to a T. I'd be happy to spend a morning drinking coffee and looking out at New York City from those gorgeous windows - think she'll have me over?
