Interior Design Inspiration: Wes Anderson

Interior Design Inspiration

decor-inspiration-wes-anderson Bright, quirky and fun - Wes Anderson is a man after my own color-loving heart. Stylists and designers alike adore his movies for their whimsical color palettes and eclectic style, and I've often found myself getting inspired between scenes of The Royal Tenenbaums or The Darjeeling Limited - taking notes of color combinations or quirky rooms I adore. Throughout his work, Anderson is known for choosing complementary brights, playful pattern combinations, and eclectic antiques that always come together to create a magical space. I don't know about you, but I spend most of his movies dreaming of living in his gorgeous spaces and exotic places his characters travel to (is there anyone else out there dying to move into that pretty pink Grand Budapest Hotel?) Wes-Anderson-Summer Thornton-Foyer I always love taking a few cues from Wes Anderson in some of my own design work, and I adore when clients dream of making their space more fun, eclectic and bright. When remodeling a family home in Lincoln Park Chicago, we took some inspiration from The Royal Tenenbaums, giving our clients the best of both worlds: a space that was modern and new, as well as historic and vintage. Bright colors and quirky wallpaper made all the rooms feel fresh and fun, while antique details from the gallery wall to the finishings payed homage to the vintage charm of the home. I played with lots of funky patterns, colorful palettes and vintage furniture to give it lots of personality!
