Interior design & remodel of a vintage 1890s condo

One of Summer’s most popular interior designs, the fun, fresh and approachable living room delivers a shot of color while blending traditional and modern pieces.

Inspiration:

Roaring ‘20s glitz combined with a modern tongue-in-cheek interpretation on British tradition.

The Client:

• An interior designer in Chicago, you may even have heard of her…this is Summer’s home that she shares with Josh.

What we love:

• The gold modernist faucet set in a traditionalist kitchen
• The mirrored backsplash in the kitchen. Did we mention that Summer doesn’t do a lot of cooking?
• Huge vintage 1960’s lamps in the bedroom
• Floor to ceiling bookcases filled with quirky curiosities. Oh how we love animals made of brass!
• How many bloggers and editors have fallen in love with this space – your kind words makes us blush

What we did:

• Gut remodel of the kitchen and bathroom
• Added moldings, built-in bookcases and all décor
• Restored the original 1890s charm and interior architecture that had been lost during a prior renovation in the 80s
