Summer leads the firm in its creative vision, overseeing all design projects to ensure they remain fresh and original delivering on the firm’s carefully honed aesthetic. Summer’s extensive background in textiles and wallpaper provides the firm with a unique bent on design based in material selection. Many projects are built around pattern and texture creating a layered look that’s full of color and movement.

WHITNEY MERSMAN Interior Designer
Whitney joined Summer Thornton Design in 2009 and brought with her a plethora of experience in kitchen and bath design. Previously working at a high-end kitchen showroom within the Merchandise Mart, she knows cabinetry, stone, and hardware like no one else. Whitney is a perfectionist and now manages client projects of all types using her keen aesthetic eye, knowledge of material selection, and attention to detail in space planning.

JOSH THORNTON Marketing & Operations
Josh manages marketing, PR, and brand partnership efforts for Summer Thornton Design. He works with Editors, bloggers, writers, and brands. In addition, he helps our commercial clients with their PR and marketing where appropriate and is the in-house photographer for many of Summer’s projects.
